The Blackdown Hills is a good area for walking and cycling. There are plenty of good pubs nearby serving excellent food and beer. Local sites of interest include the Culmstock Beacon which was used as part of the warning system for the arrival of the Spanish Armada.

The nearby Hembury Fort was an iron age hill fort and now a tranquil haven, it’s violent past now long forgotten. (See Times Online). The Old Kennels offers classes throughout the year in all sorts of arts and crafts.

A little further afield The West Somerset Railway run a steam train from near Taunton up to Minehead in the north of Devon running through some beautiful countryside.

There are various National Trust sites, such as Knightshayes Court, a short drive away and the coast is about a 40 minute drive.

The nearest village is Hemyock, roughly a mile away, for basic amenities, and Wellington and Taunton are within easy reach for more varied shops.
